The blog for Day 9 is written by Pete Cowley.
In February, Georgiya led a great session in our community group. To begin, she invited us to spend 5 minutes all praying out our thanks to God together. This was a fun challenge, which made me appreciate two things. There is so much to thank God for, but it’s also amazing how much I can thank God for in 5 minutes! It also made me realise that many of my prayers are about me and my needs, instead of thanks to Him.
Over these 40 days, I’ve sought to pray prayers of thanks to God whenever I pray.
This morning, instead of being with you at JCC I’m in bed recovering from a cold. I don’t like missing our Sunday gatherings; however my heart is filled with thankfulness for you all, the family of God. I’m also reminded of what God calls us; His treasured possession, wow!
1 Peter 2:9-10 – “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”
