There are some situations that I have been praying regularly for, without any discernible change, leaving me feeling disappointed and disheartened. This is frustrating when sometimes I “throw up” a quick prayer that gets answered. I wondered what God might be wanting to teach me and what needed to change. At the beginning of 2019 I was encouraged to ask God for a word for the year ahead. The word that instantly came to my mind was “Perseverance” and with it came a sense of determination that this is what God wants me to do.
In our small group we are reading and discussing the book “Sustainable Power”, which is both inspirational and challenging, as it is revealing things in my life that have not occurred to me before as being stumbling blocks, which need repentance in order for me to move on. I now feel a sense of renewing, encouragement and expectancy as I persevere in prayer.
Romans 5v4 and 5: Perseverance produces character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us.
Hebrews 12v1b “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus.”
