“Opportunity knocks but temptation leans on the doorbell” (BiOY)

“If the grass is always greener on the other side then it’s probably Astro turf!” (BiOY)

I struggle with temptation; it’s nothing new; I’ve lived with it since the day I was born.

I always wanted everything I couldn’t have and usually fought passionately to get things until I had them (however good or bad they were). The instant gratification and self serving soon wears off and the cravings return. For some of us this may be as simple as chocolate or food, perhaps alcohol or other and maybe even as far as what we watch and read. There are obvious dangers in excesses (usually health) and however much we try and fill the gap we never really do.

If you’re feeling like you can’t go on and tempted beyond despair, remember Jesus was also tempted and He hadn’t eaten for 40 days!  He was offered the world on a plate! That may not make you feel any better right now but if you can take some time each day to spend with Him and hand over your issue He will help.

  • Maybe every time temptation strikes; offer it up to God in prayer instead of indulging?
  • Find a friend to share with; a burden shared is a burden halved! Even a bar of chocolate!
  • Be thankful for what you do have – an attitude of gratitude!
  • Be honest with where you are.

“Remember the grass is actually greener where it is watered!” (BiOY)
