Day 39 of 40 days of devotion
Written by Doug Hedges
Waking up in the morning is often a real pleasure. At other times it can be a drudge.
A real effort. Familiar problems and worries push themselves to the front of your thoughts.
Is it worth getting up? Not a very positive start to the day.
Whatever your job or situation, it is easy to get wrapped up in the issues that life presents us with, and allow them to dominate our outlook.
With God at the centre of our devotion, we can experience the promises He has made to us and not be the victims of our circumstances.
We are encouraged to be devoted to God and not seek satisfaction elsewhere above God.
Ps 57:7 says “My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music”
This attitude of devotion sounds a bit more positive.
Verse 8 goes on to say:
“Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn”
Surely that is worth getting up for!
