It seems like the natural thing to do, husband and wife praying together, but is it? Talking to friends over the past few months it seems not, us included, so my 40 Days of Devotion are to do just that – pray daily with my wife. Where did my inspiration come from? It’s something I think we should be doing anyway and probably the Holy Spirit nudging me. So we just need to get on with it.

Finding time for a retired couple you would think is easy. Think again. With various meetings, family commitments, chores and general busyness aside we have managed most days. Remembering to do it, and fitting in is the hardest task. It’s so easy to put off for one reason or another.

Just sitting together and reflecting on how God has and is blessing us is reinforcing our marriage. It is also allowing us to share what’s on our hearts for, family, neighbours, friends and church. Hopefully, this is something that will stay with us.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Philippians 4:6 NIV
