Blind Bartimaeus – Healing
Sermon Notes – Sunday 25 June 2017
Mark 10 – Blind Bartimaeus
Key Passages: Mark 10:46-52, John 9:1-41; Is 53:4-5; 1 Peter 2:24, Rev 21:3-4
- Jesus our healer – then and now
- The source of our healing – the cross
- The kingdom now and not yet
- Faith for healing?
Some unhelpful perspectives on healing:
- God does not heal today - I don’t believe it!
- God always heals - It’s not for me
- Healing is my right - It’s not fair
Practical application at Jubilee:
- Expect and make space for healing and words of knowledge in our meetings
- Encourage one another to pray outside of our formal meetings.
- Give space for people to tell their stories
Most of all, we’ll keep on praying for healing to a mighty God who still heals today, and through that, as Jesus so clearly modelled with Bartimaeus, shows compassion, reaches out to the marginalised, and desires above all else that God’s name is glorified.
